What is a full spectrum doula?

“A full spectrum doula is a non-medically trained community care worker who offers support to people during the full spectrum of pregnancy – from preconception, to birth, to abortion, to miscarriage, to adoption, to postpartum. Full spectrum birth workers actively practice being open and aware of the diverse reproductive needs and experiences people have, in light of their identity, background, preferences, lived experiences, and so on. While this doesn’t mean full spectrum doulas will say “yes” to every client, it does mean that they prioritize being accessible, inclusive, and culturally appropriate. When (not if) there’s a client that is not a good fit or the doula doesn’t have the capacity or skills to serve the client, they do their best to make an appropriate and vetted referral. The history of full-spectrum doula work precedes the more mainstream use of the term, as midwives, activists, and other community care workers have served in this role for friends, family, and folks in their community across history and across cultures. One of [my] favorite books, Revolutionary Mothering, honors this lineage.” - BADT

About Divine Dandelion’s Birth Philosophy:

When a person becomes pregnant they have a long lineage of people that have given birth before them to tap into. The ancestral knowledge of birthing is something every birthing person carries with them. Coral feels called to assist every birthing person in finding their power. For her, this means bringing to fruition the knowledge she has acquired with the lessons and traditions of centuries of birth, all while using these in conjunction with modern, evidence based techniques.

Every birth is different and it is Coral’s belief that every birthing person should be allowed the environment to create not only a healthy pregnancy, but also one that is steeped in empowering the soon-to-be parent. Transitioning into parenthood is often diminished and Coral believes it is important to illuminate aspects of the full spectrum of pregnancy that may have been forgotten.

Coral uses her formal training to bring professionally dependable methods, information, resources, and knowledge to each pregnancy. Because every body and birth is so vastly different, education becomes a huge well in which to fill our cups from. Labor can often be long and tiresome, so Coral helps keep focus on the exercises and information one can surround themselves with in preparation for the upcoming birth!  Emotionally, she brings an open heart and warm presence during the vulnerable experience of labor, striving to create an atmosphere in which one can feel supported and give birth without fear. Coral’s aim in being a full spectrum doula is to provide the nurturing and informed presence that each person needs, no matter how they wish to birth their beautiful baby.

Placenta Services

Placenta encapsulation is for anyone interested in supporting the fourth trimester. Consumption of your placenta may help with energy levels, milk production, PMADs, vitamin/mineral support, and shortened healing time.

What is included in placenta services:

  • 4-6 weeks worth of your encapsulated placenta (~100 capsules)

  • placenta tincture that doesn’t expire (some people even keep it until perimenopause to help with symptoms)

  • Umbilical cord keepsake

  • Free pickup and drop off at your desired location

  • NO ADD ON FEES!

**It is important to do your own research regarding placenta consumption and listen to your intuition. There are very few studies on it, but there are millions of people who have done so and reported many positive affects.

What DON’T doulas do?

  • Perform clinical tasks - such as monitor blood pressure, fetal heart checks, vaginal exams, and more. I am there to provide physical comfort and emotional support.

  • Make decisions for you - I will help you get the information necessary to make an informed decision. I will also remind you if there is a divergence from your birth plan. This will help you and your partner feel confident in making decisions regarding your pregnancy, but I cannot guarantee how your birth or postpartum will go and will not give any medical advice.

Because this is my livelihood I have to charge a living wage, but am also aware that not everyone can afford doula support. I believe that everyone who wants a doula should be able to have one. So, in special (and limited) instances I can make exceptions or payment plans for families that feel they truly cannot afford support. I am working on coming up with sliding scale tiered pricing, but in the mean time PLEASE reach out to me to come up with something that works for both of us!
